A 43-year-old man was shot by an undercover police officer early Wednesday morning after taking part in a fake drug deal in the Bronx.
It happened on 167th Street near Morris Avenue.
Investigators say a detective conducting an undercover operation was confronted by 43-year-old Keith Johnson.
Authorities say after taking money from the undercover officer, Johnson and the detective went to a car to get the drugs.
They say Johnson pulled out what appeared to be a gun, but it turned out to be fake. That's when the detective fired his weapon, hitting Johnson in the right shoulder.
Police say Johnson got into the car and tried to drive off with 46-year-old Joe Rushing, who was already in the car, but they got caught in traffic and were arrested.
Johnson was taken to Lincoln Hospital.
Both faces charges including robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, and sale of a controlled substance.
