A police sergeant is facing driving while intoxicated charges.
Sources say Joseph Spiekerman, 43, was arrested and suspended without pay.
He's accused of allegedly hitting a pedestrian after running a red light at York Avenue and East 86th Street on June 29th.
The victim, who sources identified as 68-year-old Barry Gintel, suffered injuries that include broken legs and ribs as well as head and neck injuries. He is recovering at the hospital.
