The Department of Education kicked off its Summer Meals program today, offering city kids a free breakfast and lunch over the summer.
Children up to 18 years old can get free breakfast and lunch at various schools, parks, and public housing locations from now until August 28th. More than a thousand locations are participating.
The DOE says kids do not have to be enrolled in summer school in order to take advantage of the free meals.
